€25.00
Old Times in the Barony.

Old Times in the Barony was originally published in parts in 1895 with later editions in 1905 and 1922, this is a facsimile edition by Carraig Books, Blackrock, issued in 1976. Rev. Conmee was born in County Roscommon and the barony referred to in the title is the Barony of Athlone on the West side of the river Shannon. Here Rev. Conmee remembers everyday events and the people of the barony and town of Athlone around the 1860 period. In the text he refers to Athlone as Luainsford. This edition has an introduction by Thomas Wall with some biographical details.

Rev. Conmee later became known world wide because of his connection with James Joyce and his being mentioned in Ulysses.
36 pages in card covers. Traces of small label to front cover and small initial stamp to top, right corner of title, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
